Objectives of DATA

Promote independent economic (and related) research of ultimate relevance to the public; advance economic development in the West Bank and Gaza; study the economical orientation of the public as well as providing or reflecting these orientation to the political and economical decision makers.

 

Working Methods:

DATA's services are provided according to specific agreement with the parties concerned. When conducting a research, provide consulting or technical assistance, the following may be assigned to carry on the work; members of DATA's staff, researchers and expert working with DATA, other experts and professionals whose services and expertise might be needed. DATA's flexible working methods have strengthened its professional capabilities, and enhanced the quality of its work.

Activities and Achievements:

The scope of DATA's activities includes the following; economic and social research including studies and field surveys, feasibility studies, marketing and management consulting, human resources development and institutional development.

DATA has taken on several research projects since its establishment in 1991, most notably four studies entitled "Prospects for Possible Economic Integration and Disintegration of the Palestinian Economy in the Future from Israel," "Sustaining Middle East Peace through Regional Cooperation" that entails six topics on labor, trade, agriculture, finance, manufacturing and simulation of future economic trends in the West Bank and Gaza, "A Palestinian National Social Security System, Implications for Wage Earners in the local and Israeli market Assuming Open borders," and "Possibilities for Industrial and Entrepreneurial Development in the West Bank and Gaza", And "Alternative Tourism", Feasibility studies, and a comprehensive study for the Stone and the Marble industry in Palestine, etc…

Furthermore, DATA has conducted several field surveys on industrial establishments, a study on the health system in the West Bank and Gaza, and the impediments for Investments in Palestine. In addition , Data has participated in many studies directly related to the economical situation of Jerusalem.

DATA has Co-organized several seminars Like "Visions for a New Middle East: Prospects for Regional Cooperation and Institution-Building in the Context of the Peace Process - Israel, the Palestinian Entity, and Jordan"; In addition to a proposed draft agreement concerning "Prevention of Double Taxation among Israel, and Jordan and the PNA" and many others. Also DATA took a leading role in evaluating the articles on labor and trade of the Paris Economic Protocol.

Internationally, DATA has participated in the Ebenhausin Dialogue on a special session on the prospect of enticing German investments in the newly established Palestinian Autonomy. Also, it cooperated with the Otto Benecke Stiftung in preparing a report on "Professional Qualification and Economic Integration of Refugees and Returnees in Palestine".

DATA has earned its high credibility among many Palestinian officials and decision markers as well as interested foreigners who continuously approached DATA for consultancy on Various aspects of the Palestinian economy.
